“Terms has transformed our workflow, and I can guarantee you we’ll never go back to DocuSign because of it.”

The challenge

Family Office is a design firm that works with startups and operators on identity, websites, and product. Almost every engagement starts with a statement of work: a brand identity, a website and packaging system, a logo and typography direction.

Around those sit mutual NDAs, independent contractor agreements, sales commission agreements, and this year the studio’s first employment agreements.

Contracts used to be the slowest part of starting work. Each one meant adapting a Word file from the last engagement, exporting a PDF, uploading it to a signing tool, and placing the fields. If the client wanted a change, the whole chain ran again.

The solution

Terms came out of the studio itself, built to do exactly what it needed. The agreement is now text: the studio writes or pastes the terms, adds the signers, and sends a link.

The counterparty reads it in the browser, highlights a clause to comment on it if something is off, and signs by typing their name.

The results so far

  1. Same-day agreementsA recent engagement went from first call to a signed SOW the same afternoon, with two rounds of edits in between.
  2. Edits without reworkThe other side comments on the clause itself, so a change no longer means exporting, uploading, and placing fields again.
  3. Searchable contract historyWhen a question comes up about what was agreed, the studio asks Terms instead of digging through email attachments.
